Back Story

I’m a freelance video editor with a background firmly rooted in the edit suite — the kind where you learn your craft properly, from the ground up.

I cut my teeth in specialist factual television, working on programmes where complex engineering ideas and technical subjects had to be distilled into stories that were clear, engaging, and genuinely entertaining. Making sense of complicated material — and turning it into something people actually want to watch — was part of the job description, and it’s a skill that still underpins everything I do today.

My career began as an Edit Assistant, before progressing to Senior Edit Assistant, working my way up through post-production teams and learning the fundamentals inside out. Media management, workflows, versioning, delivery specs — the unglamorous but essential details that keep productions running smoothly. That solid technical foundation continues to inform my work as an editor, allowing me to focus on storytelling, pacing, and emotion, knowing the mechanics are taken care of.

Outside the edit suite, I spend as much time as possible outdoors. I’m a runner — and more specifically, an ultra runner — drawn to long days, big challenges, and difficult terrain. I’ve taken on numerous races over the years, including the formidable Arc of Attrition, which I’ll be returning to at the end of January 2026 for my third attempt.

In many ways, I’ve been lucky enough to bring my two great passions together: a love of strong stories and a love of the editing process itself. That crossover led to the independent production of my Arc of Attrition film, a project that combines endurance sport, landscape, and human resilience.
You can find out more about the race — and the film — at fktfilm.com.

If you’d like to talk about a project, collaborate on a story, or enquire about bookings, I’d love to hear from you.
